Acadian Festival Open House
Description
The oldest active Acadian Home is Open for tour during the 34th Acadian Festival in Madawaska, Maine. Open House is August 13 & 14,2012, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. See the log "piece sur piece" structure built in 1823-1860 era, unique true root cellar, pegged roof beams, unusual craftsmanship, presently cloaked in clapboard with a steep A-frame Loyalist Dormer and many other interesting historic features. Allow two hours for the complete tour and enjoy stories about the Martin families and others that span the past 150+ years. Other days and times are available by request through the owners. The home is in restoration, and being preserved in the look of the late 1800's to early 1900's. The Martin Home is on the National Historic Register
