Aroostook County Snowmobiling Guide - Trail System

More than 40 snowmobile clubs keep the trail system in top-notch condition. The vast majority of trail grooming is conducted by club members who volunteer their time to develop and maintain the trails with the latest equipment. While trail grooming consumes a large part of their volunteer time, they also spend many hours cutting brush, building bridges, maintaining signage and tending to all of the other miscellaneous tasks that are needed for a super trail system.

A person can spend an entire week's vacation in Aroostook County -snowmobile every day, choose various routes, and with the multitude of loop trails, never cross the same path twice. Many county communities are located right on the Canadian border, which makes travel by snowmobile into Canada a cinch. Running through the heart of Aroostook County is the Northeast Snowmobile Trail (NEST), an international snowmobile trail system linking Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Quebec. NEST, the Interconnecting Trail Systems (ITS), and local club trails provide the snowmobiler with a variety of scenic rides to choose, whether it be a long loop ride, short scenic jaunt or a trip through the entire county.

Snowmobile Trail Maps are now available on-line.
