aine's Aroostook County has nurtured a growing craft beer scene, offering handcrafted beers that often incorporate local ingredients and flavors.

There is nothing quite like finding a great local brewery after a day exploring Aroostook County. From a pint brewed in the Crown of Maine to a creative small-batch beer enjoyed with friends, Aroostook's breweries have become part of the region's growing food and drink accolades. In 2026, voters chose their favorite breweries as part of the Best of Aroostook Awards. Here are the three businesses that rose to the top.

The Northern Maine Brewing Company in Caribou, Maine brings local pride to every pint, with their regional ingredients and time-honored brewing techniques. The spacious, welcoming taproom blends rustic woodwork with modern comfort and is right off of their main dining room which spotlights fine dining. Not sure which of their many house made beers to try out first? Order one of their famous flights to try them all!

1st) Northern Maine Brewing Company

This brewery’s many selections are without a doubt, an authentic taste of Aroostook County. They use local ingredients including the water 300 feet beneath us, and local Malt grown right here by Buck Farms.

2nd) First Mile Brewing Co

As the name suggests, First Mile Brewing Co can be found on the first mile of US Route 1, housed in a converted grain warehouse. Their tap room features 9 rotating taps, offering craft beer options to suit all palates and preferences!

3rd) Katahdin Brew Works

Known for their events such as trivia nights, cribbage, and their holiday theme nights, this brewery knows how to have a good time, and how to make a great beer.

Aroostook County Tourism (ACT) is the Destination Marketing Organization of Maine's Aroostook County. ACT is comprised of a 12-member volunteer board that works to promote all of Aroostook and invite visitors to find their own adventure through marketing.

The Best of Aroostook is a fun way to highlight the people, businesses, and places that make the Crown of Maine special. No prizes are awarded. Winners are announced for the top three organizations in each category, while the remaining organizations are recognized as honorable mentions. As is tradition, the honor system guides voting because Best of Aroostook is meant to be a fun way to celebrate local favorites. Please vote and participate respectfully. Voting was open from January 1 through March 24, 2026, and winners were announced in April 2026.
