Aroostook County knows how to throw a party — from parades and fireworks to fairs and foam cannons. Here's your ultimate guide to everything "Family Fun" happening for the Fourth of July across in the Crown of Maine this year.

Houlton

July 2 - Strawberry Shortcake Kick-off
Houlton's iconic prelude to the holiday weekend, this event features homemade strawberry shortcakes available from 11 AM to 2 PM (or until sold out) in Historic Market Square. It's sweet, simple, and deliciously local.

July 3 - Midnight Madness
Downtown Houlton comes alive with the biggest parting starting at 4:00 PM with Midnight Madness in Historic Market Square. You'll find artisan vendors, food trucks, sidewalk sales (up the wazoo!), live entertainment, a road race, and kids’ games. There will be three music sessions this year opening with the Marionette Party Band, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Market Square; McGill’s Community Band at 7 p.m in the downtown amphitheater, and headliner Star City Syndicate, a 20-piece northern Maine motown and contemporary band at 8 p.m. in Market Square. The night wraps up with a fireworks show at 9:30 PM over the Gateway Crossing bridge — one of the most anticipated displays in the region. This years theme? Treasure Island!

July 4 - Fourth of July Parade & Family Fun Day

The community parade steps off at 10 AM, weaving through downtown and featuring classic cars, floats, marching bands, and veterans’ groups. That evening, Community Park transforms into a family playground with bounce houses, a dunk tank, food vendors, and a free outdoor movie at 8 PM. Fireworks (yes, more fireworks!) follow around 9:20 PM.

July 5 - Arts & Crafts Fair

Held in Monument Park, this relaxed Saturday fair invites local makers and artisans to share their handmade goods. Come browse and shop from 10 AM–3 PM.
