aine’s Aroostook County offers some of the best ATV riding in Maine and New England, thanks to the dedicated work of over 25 local ATV clubs that help maintain and expand the region’s 1,300+ miles of interconnected trails. These volunteer-led clubs are the backbone of off-road recreation in The County, working closely with landowners, local governments, and the state to keep trails open, marked, and safe for riders.

Many ATV clubs in Aroostook operate from their own clubhouses or trail-side hubs, where riders can stop in during weekend rides to meet other enthusiasts, grab refreshments, or get updates on trail conditions. These clubs often host community events, rides, and fundraisers throughout the warmer months, adding to the strong spirit of connection that defines off-road culture in the region. Whether you're a seasoned rider or just getting started, the hospitality and passion found in Aroostook’s ATV clubs and volunteers make every Aroostook adventure the best one yet. We have many great people in Aroostook County and it is the people from both here and afar who make up the clubs that build bridges, keep trails, mark intersections, and plan some pretty fun rides and fundraisers.

ATV Maine

ATV Maine is a statewide nonprofit that advocates for safe, responsible ATV riding and represents over 100 affiliated clubs across Maine. Formed in 1997 in response to rising concerns about irresponsible ATV use, the organization works with landowners, state agencies, and local clubs to promote rider education, secure land access, and support a permission-based trail system. Thanks to these efforts, Maine now boasts more than 6,000 miles of interconnected ATV trails—one of the largest systems in the United States.

The organization plays a vital role in advocacy for the industry by supporting trail maintenance, training clubs in best practices, and strengthening relationships with private landowners. Volunteers are the backbone of this effort, and many small towns and businesses benefit from ATV tourism. The continued success of the trail system depends on landowner trust and club participation—both of which ATV Maine works tirelessly to protect.
