Island Falls Summer Festival

Island Falls Summerfest 2025: Safari – Expedition Island Falls will take place from July 25 through August 3 in the heart of Island Falls, Maine, celebrating community spirit with ten full days of hometown fun in Aroostook County. The festival kicks off on Friday, July 25 with Customer Appreciation at Katahdin Federal Credit Union from 11 am to 1 pm, followed by Holly Jolly July at The Rummage from 9 am to 5 pm at 817 Dyer Brook Road. Nature lovers can join the Tree Identification Walk with a Forester at River Walk (1160 Crystal Road) from 4 to 6 pm, and wrestling fans can catch Live Wrestling at the Island Falls Municipal Building from 7 to 9 pm.

On Saturday, July 26, kids 15 and under can Learn to Fish at the Island Falls Ball Field from 10 am to 1 pm, with pre-registration required. Explore the historic Island Falls Opera House during Opera House Tours at 11 am (60 Burleigh St), and continue the holiday cheer with another day of Holly Jolly July at The Rummage from 9 am to 5 pm. Enjoy a delicious Steak Supper from 5 to 6:30 pm at the Island Falls VFW Hall (82 Houlton Road), and catch an Outdoor Concert at the VaJoWa Golf Course at Walker Settlement Road. The RIP Museum (64 Sherman Street) will also be open for tours from 11 am to 1 pm

On Sunday, July 27, paddle enthusiasts can join the Canoe, Kayak & SUP Races at 12 pm at Birch Point Campground (33 Birch Point Lane), with a $15 registration fee supporting a scholarship fund. That afternoon, enjoy the Design, Paint & Sip event at Hollyberry Pavilion from 2 to 6 pm—RSVP required.

Monday, July 28, brings Cribbage Tournament & Game Night from 6 to 8 pm at a local venue for all board game lovers, with snacks and drinks included.

Tuesday, July 29, is dedicated to final festival prep with “We Are Putting Some Finishing Touches on Events for This Day.”

On Wednesday, July 30, the Quilt & Art Show opens from 2 to 6 pm at the United Baptist Church (64 Cleaves Street), and the RIP Museum will be open again from 11 am to 1 pm. Duck Sales also begin from 9 am to 1 pm at the Brick Garage on Houlton Road—look for the Giant Duck!

Thursday, July 31, features Treats and Giveaways from 10 am to 3 pm at Katahdin Trust Company (1007 Crystal Road), a Book Sale from 1 to 6 pm at the Katahdin Public Library (20 Library Street), and the Quilt & Art Show continues from 2 to 6 pm at the United Baptist Church.

On Friday, August 1, Duck Sales continue from 9 am to 1 pm, and children can enjoy a Puppet Show at 10:30 am at the Katahdin Public Library (rain date: Saturday). The day ends with the Island Falls Car Show and Concert at the Municipal Building, with the Car Show from 5 to 8 pm and a Highway 207 Outdoor Concert from 6 to 8 pm—free entry, just bring a chair.

Saturday, August 2, kicks off with a Community Breakfast at the Masonic Lodge (206 A.F. & A.M., 27 Library St) from 7 to 9:30 am, followed by the 5K Run/3K Walk at 9 am at the Island Falls Municipal Building to benefit local Special Olympians. A Bake Sale runs at 9 am at St. Agnes Sodality, and Duck Sales go from 9 am to 11 pm. The KenDucky Derby begins at 11 am behind the Brick Garage—attendees are encouraged to wear their fanciest derby hats. The RIP Museum is open from 11 am to 1 pm, and the annual River Float launches from the Brick Garage to Pea Cove. Canoes and Kayaks will be available on-site. The Cornhole Tournament starts at 2 pm at the VaJoWa Golf Course ($50/team), and the Island Falls High School Alumni Banquet takes place at 5:30 pm at the Municipal Building. Cap off the night with a Fireworks Display at 9 pm at the Va Jo Wa Golf Course (142 Walker Settlement Rd).

The celebration concludes on Sunday, August 3, with a Chicken BBQ at 10 am hosted by Island Falls VFW (82 Houlton Road), followed by the Safari-Themed Parade at 1 pm—line-up begins at 12 pm on Willis Lane. Immediately after the parade, head to the Island Falls Municipal Building for Family Fun Day, featuring food, games, bounce houses, a water slide, a National Park Service program, ATV safety trailer, and mini ATVs for kids. Crafters, vendors, and yardsalers will be set up at the Town Office from 9 am to 3 pm—no fee, just bring your own table.

Each day of the festival also features a "Find the Animal of the Day" Safari Game—search for wild critters hidden around town, bring the correct one to the Town Office, and win a prize.
